Pastor Bob Green's Blog

Bob Green   In November of 1974 I became pastor of Arrow Heights Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, OK. It has been a joy to serve in the Tulsa area since 1968.  My wife and I came to Tulsa from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas to participate in the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Hillcrest Medical Center.  During those seventeen months I received the most beneficial training of my life.  For two years I was the pastor of Fairhill Baptist Church in North Tulsa.  That ministry in an interracial community was a meaningful experience.  The next three years I served Immanual Baptist Church in the intercity of Tulsa.  My family and I have been blessed to be in Broken Arrow serving Arrow Heights over three decades.  We have three children, Gay, Julie, and Doug who are married now to wonderful spouses.  They have blessed us currently with six grandchildren.

    THE BIG QUESTION?
If God were to take you home today, what would your wife and
children hold in their hands tomorrow that would let them know that they were
    the treasures of your life?
    THE RIGHT ANSWER...Letters from Dad
You are invited on a journey...a journey to leave a legacy of Faith,
Hope, and Love through the lost art of letter writing. Your journey begins as
you join a Legacy group. Here we walk through the Letters from Dad curriculum
where you learn to write 5 specific types of letters. You will learn what it
means to give THE BLESSING to your wife, children, and grandchildren. In
addition you will learn to write the things you have always wanted to say but
just didn’t know how; leave treasured letters of love that will be read long after
you are gone; learn to speak and write these Blessings to your family; build
deep and lasting relationships with other men in your Legacy group; store, in
letter form, the only 3 things which will remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. Finally
you will deliver your letters in a keepsake box to protect these treasured letters
for future readings. We have had the kickoff BBQ dinner, but YOU can join us
at our next meeting, Tuesday, September 23, at 7:00 PM. That is our first
training session. We meet only ONCE a month in the Student Center.
THANKS to all who made our kickoff dinner so special….the praise
team who lead worship, the ladies who decorated and served the food, Kelly
Keech who is our Men’s Ministry Leader, and Bill Coody who is our champion
    for Letters from Dad.
The BOK CENTER is celebrating its Grand Opening with
    One Song, Many Voices
    Multi-faith Celebration
    Sunday, August 31, 2008
    3:00—4:15 pm
This free event features a 500 voice community choir and performance by Tulsa
favorite, Sam Harris. Bring your family to experience this unique one-time
event as our community unites in faith and music.
Since AHBC is not having evening services tonight, I encourage you
to participate in this historic event. How often do you see a religious celebration
    to dedicate a public facility.
PRAY for our youth and leaders who are experiencing Breakin’ Free at
CrossTimbers camp near McAlester. God is doing a great work there.
